Last 16th October 2014 Euromontana participated in the “Promoting Regional food systems event” where a Position Paper on “Promoting European local food systems” was launched in the presence of the European Commissioner for the Expo 2015, Mr. Wilkinson .

This initiative was organised by Region Lombardia and UnionCamere Lombardia in order to present the document, which is the result of the contributions of several European Networks as ERRIN, Euromontana, KEN, AREPO, “Città del Bio” and PURPLE, to a large audience.

The position paper, which is focused on local foods products as result of the history and traditions of our territories and representing a production sector of excellence able to attract tourists and promote local communities, was signed by the 6 European networks.

During this event the stakeholders and participants discussed about the protection of the local food products, consumer protection, research and innovation in the agro-food sector as a driver for competitiveness and growth and environmental sustainability.

The document is now opened to the signature of European regions, networks and stakeholders and it will be addressed and presented to the European Commission during EXPO 2015 in Milan “Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life”.
