Launch of the

Intergroup on Rural, Mountainous and Remote Areas

Thursday, 15 March 2015, 11:00- 12:00

European Parliament, Strasbourg, France, Louise Weiss N4.3

Rural, mountainous and remote areas contribute widely to European economies, cultures and ecosystems. Yet EU policies often overlook these key regions, contributing to the widening gap between those areas and their urban counterparts. All EU citizens deserve a good quality of life, with access to jobs, information, transport and clean energy sources. This event will outline main areas of activities of the Intergroup on Rural, Mountainous and Remote Areas, and mark the opening of a forum dedicated to regions often underrepresented in public dialogue.
